Mark Oliver
Chairman & Senior Advisor, Oliver & Ohlbaum Associates
Mark co-founded Oliver & Ohlbaum Associates (O&O) in 1995 having become the BBC’s first head of strategy in 1989. Over the last 25 years he has established O&O as Europe’s leading boutique advisory firm across media, entertainment and sport.
Mark has had some level of involvement in every BBC charter renewal and licence fee settlement since 1986. He has also advised Channel 4, ITV, Channel 5 and PACT on aspects of PSB and strategy. In 2016 he was the main author of a report for DCMS on BBC distinctiveness.
He is also author of Changing the Channel: A Case for Radical Reform of PSB for Policy Exchange in 2010 – still the only report for a right-of-centre think tank in support of a large and well-funded BBC to have been published since 1985.
