Diane co-directs the Bennett Institute whose goal is to “rethink public policy in an era of turbulence and inequality”.
There she heads research programmes under the themes of progress and productivity, with a focus in her own research on the digital economy.
Diane’s latest book, Markets, State and People – Economics for Public Policy, examines how societies reach decisions about the use and allocation of economic resources.
Her next book, Cogs and Monsters, will be out later this year. She has served in various public service roles including as Vice Chair of the BBC Trust from 2006 to 2014, where she had responsibility for developing and implementing Public Value Tests. She was awarded a CBE for her contribution to the public understanding of economics.
