Dr Joanna Abeyie MBE

Head of Creative Diversity, BBC

Joanna is the Head of Creative Diversity at the BBC, a Commissioner for the Civil Service, a Common Councillor for the City of London and Founder and Director of equity, diversity and inclusion consultancy Blue Moon & Partners.

She founded her first charity at 18 before starting Shine Media in 2008 which placed over 3,000 people from diverse backgrounds in creative industry positions, then in 2018 she founded Blue Moon.

In April 2022 she became Interim Head of Creative Diversity at the BBC, leading on the planning and development of diversity and inclusion initiatives related to on-air talent, commissioning guidelines, diverse audience panels, and monitoring and reporting. Joanna was awarded an MBE in the 2020 New Year Honours.
