Sophia Smith Galer

Sophia is an award-winning journalist and content creator credited for pioneering journalism on TikTok. Her push for representation in newsrooms for younger audiences and coverage relevant to them has won her several accolades, including the British Journalism Awards’ Innovation of the Year, a spot on the Forbes Under 30 List and recognition in British Vogue as one of the UK’s 25 most influential women. 

Sophia began her career reporting across the BBC World Service, BBC Radio 4 and BBC World News and building Webby-winning BBC social media channels before joining VICE News. She went freelance in September 2023, advising media organisations on storytelling strategies and reporting across print and online. 

Sophia’s first book, Losing It: Dispelling the Sex Myths that Rule Our Lives, was published in 2022.
